A general method has been used in this paper to study the performances of front end of optical receiver, with the model of FET and various tuning networks. General formulas have been presented, with which the resonant frequency, SNR and transfer functions can be calculated. As a sample, the performance of a series resonant optical receiver is studied with the formulas presented in this paper.
