High-reliability analysis of an SPN-based industrial ring network for mines

  • Against the background of multi-service convergence in intelligent mines, conventional studies on the reliability of industrial Ethernet ring networks have focused mainly on ring protection switching speed and static redundancy configurations, making it difficult to meet the high-reliability requirements of coal mines for deterministic communication and rapid fault self-healing. To address this issue, this study proposes high-reliability technologies for an industrial ring network for mines based on the Slicing Packet Network (SPN). In terms of device reliability, the differentiated redundancy architectures of box-type and chassis-type SPN devices were analyzed, with emphasis on redundancy protection strategies for key device units. In terms of network reliability, SPN's hierarchical protection architecture, node protection schemes, and fast rerouting mechanism were analyzed. VPN-based soft-slicing isolation and FlexE- and FGU-based hard-slicing isolation technologies were investigated; and intelligent sensing and simulation technologies based on Inband-OAM, Telemetry, and BGP-LS were introduced. In terms of engineering reliability, a modular hot-swappable design, Prognostics and Health Management (PHM), and a remote intelligent operation and maintenance system were proposed. Using the parameters of an actual chassis-type SPN device for mining applications and the architecture of an SPN-based industrial ring network for mines, device and network reliability were quantitatively evaluated. The results showed that both the availability of the chassis-type SPN device with graded redundancy protection and that of the SPN-based industrial ring network for mines could reach 99.999 9%. These results fully demonstrate the high reliability of the SPN-based industrial ring network for mines in complex application environments in mines.
